Vocabulary lesson for the day

So I’m studying for the GRE. That’s the test that gets you into grad school. I don’t know yet whether I want to go to grad school or not, but there’s a good chance, and they say that you should do it a year before you want to start grad school so I’m going to take the test this fall just in case. Man, I forgot how much I hate these kinds of tests!

I got a book at Barnes and Nobles and I’m working through it. I started studying the written portion first, because I’m better at that than math and I thought it might be better to start of with the easier part so I didn’t get completely depressed right off the bat. I had no idea how many words I didn’t know, but they have this list of 3,500 vocab words, and there are some really weird ones. Like, some I’ve never heard before in my life. So, for your education, your eddification, your delectation, here are some new words I’ve learned:

bucolic. ADJ. meaning rustic; pastoral.

carillon. N. meaning a set of bells that music can be played on– like those in a church tower or a town hall clock tower.

ebullient. ADJ. meaning showing excitement; overflowing with enthusiasm.

erudite. ADJ. meaning learned; scholarly.

So, evidentally I am not erudite. ;-)
