What a swell day we had 35 years ago.

So today was the anniversary of man landing on the moon. Thirty five years ago today, Neil Armstrong (who is from Wapokaneta, OH where there is a museum to him and, coincidentally, a couple of fast-food joints I have frequented a total of seven times. No decent person should have been to Wapokaneta seven times. My only excuse is that it is on the way to Bowling Green, where my sister lived and went to school for about four years.) set foot on the moon and said, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Makes me wanna watch October Sky to celebrate, but I didn’t really have time to today…this week-end, maybe. ;-) Other things in my plans for the week-end: getting my hair higlighted by Echo, one of the other interns, and taking a trip into Chicago. I still have lots to see there!

Have I mentioned that I’m sewing a skirt? Well, I am. A green one with a leaf print. I brought it up here because I got stuck during the construction of it; it was too big and I didn’t know how to alter it. Rachel likes to sew and she helped me out. I worked on it today as well. It’s almost done, I just have to run to JoAnn’s and get some supplies to hem it and then, I’ll wear it to an intern meeting and won’t I look swell. I like that word, ’swell.’ It’s so late victorian. And it had a revival in the fifties as well, as I understand. ‘Nincompoop’ is another word that did that.

Have a swell day, nincompoops!
