Utter Chaos

Yesterday morning everything seemed to make sense and I commented jokingly to my co-worker, Diane, that the answers to all of life’s questions could be found in the collective songs of Frank SInatra, The Beatles, and U2.

Then yesterday night, I found out that I am moving. Not here in Chicago; down in Cincinnati. As in, the Brickhouse is going to be the home of the sorority no longer, and a house five seconds up the road from the Brickhouse will be instead. As of AUGUST FIRST. It would have been nice to know this before I moved to Chicago, since half of my earthly possessions are still in the basement there and I am 7.5 hours away!!!

Then this afternoon, one of the interns here was fired and his host family was notified that they were strongly recommended to not extend their permission to live with them any longer– ostensibly for reasons which appear trivial and uncreditable to everyone with whom I have spoken. So he is moving back home, along with another intern who is engaged to him. Non eof the other interns are handling this very well; I would have to say that only three of the eight are handling it in an even remotely mature fashion. So I am playing mother/the voice of reason for some interns who are behaving rather in the fashion that many of my fellow youth group members did when we were 17 and our youth pastor was fired. Admittedly they have more reason to be upset since it could apparently be any one of us who is the next to be fired, if the silly reasons purported by his former intern director were truly the reasons his internship was terminated. Which certain circumstances tend to cast a doubt on. Well, we have an intern meeting tomorrow, so if they have even a clue HR-wise on how to run an organization, they will adress it. I’ll know better what to think when I hear what they have to say. Right now I’m still in a state of shock. Thankfully the intern found a place to stay for tonight with another family who thinks the situation is ridiculous and is ignoring a similar “recommendation” not to let him stay, and he and his fiancee are meeting the rest of us interns for breakfast tomorrow morning (at an insanely early hour so the rest of us can make it to the meeting on time– except for Matt who is in NYC visiting his cousin who is in the advanced stages of cancer. So we’re a happy-go-lucky group all the way around at the moment) for a going-away thing before they move tomorrow afternoon.

Ahhh! Insanity. Excuse me for a moment while I go swig my Mylanta— stress always hits my stomach first. With any luck it will not be so bad that I get hives again.

    1. wow…nothing beats intern drama! anywho, i’m sure that there is a substantial reason for that intern to be let go and perhaps you will find out, or perhaps you’ll get the smoothed over version.
    2. why are they moving your house again??? didn’t everyone decide to stay? i can help them move your stuff if they need the help.
    3. i’ve been working ALL day so i’ll call you sometime this weekend…probably sunday afternoon (if i’m not passed out by then on my couch!)
    4. love you!
