La Vie

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

I know so many people who don’t seem to be happy with their lives. When I talk to them, they tell me about the things that are wrong. And then they venture off into what they undoubtedly think is original to them, but which I find in each of them: the realm of What they […]

I’m homesick.

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

So I had a great summer, but now I just want to be done here. I am tired, and I miss everyone, and I didn’t get to see Juliet before she left for Florida, and my mother was just finishing up her radiation treatments when I left Cincy, so I haven’t seen her while she […]

Back in Chicago Land

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

Yeah so I’m back in Naperville now. The week-end was fabulous, though.
Friday afternoon we drove to Lima, and stayed with Alex’s family that night. His dad is one of the football coaches at the high school he and his borther and sister graduated from, and their first game was that night, so we all went. […]

Ohio Bound

Thursday, August 26th, 2004

I am sooo excited! This week-end Rob and Amy are getting married (which is cool) and, of course, that means that I get to see all of my friends from home!!! I basically have not seen any of my friends and family back home but Lisa, Crystal, and Megan– and those people only for a […]

Soccer Stars

Thursday, August 26th, 2004

Kudos go out to the US Woman’s Soccer team, who beat Brazil out for the Gold today in over-time, in probably the most exciting match I’ve ever watched. Why don’t they show more woman’s soccer on tv? For that matter why don’t they show more any kind of soccer on tv? I love watching it.

News from China

Tuesday, August 24th, 2004

Here is an article I read on the train this morning. I found it really interesting; maybe you will too. I love the subtitle; “Michael A. Lev was there for an international incident that wasn’t.” What pitifully little impact was made by these peoples’ stand. No ‘incident’ here. No press. No freedom of speech. No […]

This and That

Tuesday, August 24th, 2004

Not a whole lot has happened in the last couple of weeks so I thought I’d string them all together for you in a mish-mash.
The other day at the Cafe we had Story Time. I was in charge of organizing it and it went pretty well. We had about thirty kids, and we served them […]

Sending a question out into the cosmos

Friday, August 20th, 2004

Today, despite the fact that I am the cafe intern and not a student ministries intern, I agreed to help one of our student ministries staff members by cutting about 1100 flyers on the paper cutter. He asked me because I am extremely precise with the paper cutter. I agreed because a) he is also […]

Fundamental Differences

Tuesday, August 17th, 2004

Sunday I spent a lazy afternoon at my pastor’s house and we sat around watching the Olympics. He, his wife, and I discovered fresh proof of the fundamental differences between men and women. Here is the conversation we had:
Tim: Wow, first the Basketball team loses to Puerto Rico, and now it looks like we’re gonna […]

Sheer Madness

Saturday, August 14th, 2004

Well, I haven’t blogged in a while because I have been madly busy. The Willow Creek Leadership Summit just wrapped up about forty minutes ago and I have been going full-tilt since Wednesday morning early because CCC was a host for one of the Satellite locations. My home church, Vineyard Community Church, hosts this event […]
