Not that we’re German or anything.

My dad and my little sister are into learning German right now. Don’t ask; they just are.

Anyways, my dad downloaded the lyrics to a lot of Christmas Carols and made my mom play them on the piano and us all gather around and sing. Merry and I sang along in English while Dad and Jackie sang in German, happily certain that God could sort out the linguistic chaos somehow.

Apparently, the word for “sleighride” is, get this, “Shleet-en-fart.” That is spelled totally wrong I’m sure but that’s what it would be spelled– phonetically– in English. In typically little-boy manner (and trust me my dad is still a little boy), my father is delighted by this word. He’s been saying it as often as possible for the past two days. Welcome to my random life.
