Ya Got Any Bread?
I don’t know why, but here in Over-the-Rhine it is the accepted mode to throw any bread you don’t want out of your windows. This is considered quite normal and even, by some, as kind to the birds. The half-way house resident whose apartment is directly above my office routinely tosses his out of the window of the wall abutting the wall where the window in front of my desk is, meaning that I get a great view of it. It clunks and twangs it’s way down through the fire escape before landing on the sidewalk just to the left of our side (main) entrance. This has the not unpleasant result that the birds are always fluttering about in front of my window, hunting for crums.
People here are so strange.
